Distance matters more in glazing than in most trades, and it is worth explaining why. Replacing a misted double-glazed unit is a two-visit job: one to measure it properly, one to fit the unit once it has been made. A firm an hour away has to build both of those journeys into the price of a small repair, which is how a £150 job turns into a £400 job. Being a few miles from most of our work is why we will still take on the small stuff.
It matters at the other end too. A glass balustrade or a frameless shower enclosure needs a survey, then a template, then a fit some weeks later once the glass has been toughened with all its holes and notches already in it. Three visits minimum, and a fourth if a wall turns out to be further off plumb than it looked. That is a much easier conversation when we are local.

There is no separate mileage charge, but distance is one of the things that goes into a price, the same as access, glass type and whether it is a one-man lift. If you are on the edge of where we work we will say so on the phone rather than after we have arrived.
Sometimes. It depends where we are when you ring and what else is already booked. We aim to make a property safe the same day where we can, and if that is not going to happen we will tell you straight away so you can try someone else instead of waiting up for us.
Ring and ask. The list is where we work regularly, not a fence. Planned work travels further than emergency work does, so a balustrade or a shower screen can go further out than a board-up can.
